• Solid mahogany body • set mahogany neck • rosewood fingerboard • dual humbuckers • 30 1/2 inch scale.
The SG Reissue bass was Gibson's first attempt at creating a new SG bass model since the relative flop of 1998's SG-Z bass. Like the 1960s EB basses, this was all mahogany with rosewood fretboard and pearloid dots, and perhaps most significantly, a short 30 1/2" scale; something not seen since the final EB3s of 1979. It had similar (looking) pickups to the original 1960s EB3, in the standard neck and bridge positions, and it very much looked the part with traditional Cherry, Black and White finishes. These were good basses; close enough in look and feel to the original basses, though with more appropriate modern pickups and controls. It is no surprise that the bass sold well.
In 2006 a limited number of custom finish instruments were produced, intended for the Japanese market: Coral Pink, Canary Yellow, and as seen here Coral Blue (though often referred to as Caribbean blue). These were not widely distributed to US dealers, though odd examples did appear online.

Although the model name of this bass is the SG Reissue bass, it is not a faithful reproduction of any preceding Gibson model.

A closer look at the heel (body/neck joint) and control cavity cover of this 2006 SG reissue bass.

The pickup is described as 'vintage-style' as it comes under a chrome-plated cover, just like the 60s/70s EB pickups. It is actually a TB Plus neck humbucker; a good modern pickup, and a lot less boomy than the originals.

There are two volume controls: one for each pickup, and one master tone. The bell knobs give this bass an early to mid 1960s feel.

The SG Reissue bass has two humbucking pickups, both styled on the EB3 bass of the 1960s and 1970s. As such it has this mini-humbucker at the bridge position.

The Gibson SG reissue bass has a fairly typical width at nut of 1 5/8". The EB3 bass usually fluctuated around this, starting at 1 3/4" for the very earliest EB basses, and going as thin as 1 1/2" for the slotted headstock EBs of the early 1970s.

The Shamrock Grover tuners on the SG Reissue are similar in style to earlier
Kluson 538 and
Schaller BM tuning keys, but have longer keys, sticking out further from the instrument headstock.

Silk-screened Gibson logo and SG bell truss-rod cover with revealed edge. Corian nut. This bass, unlike the later SG Standard bass had no headstock inlays.

The reverse of the headstock holds the serial number and 'MADE IN USA', both stamped into the wood. Notice the SG Reissue bass has no volute.

Up for sale, a 1963 Gibson EB-0 in perfect working order, 100% original save for a refret and carved bone nut, and complete with a hardshell case. Introduced in 1959 in response to declining sales of the EB-1, the EB-0 originally came with a Les Paul Junior style body, quickly superseded by the SG style body (like the example seen here) in 1961. Lightweight at 7lbs 7oz with solid mahogany construction, this bass delivers pure, fat low-end thump courtesy of the famous "Mudbucker" pickup. The rich...

In great to near excellent condition. Has kill switch, two tone knobs, two volume knobs and pick up selector. With really cool vintage gig bag. From Fly Guitars site: When the EB3 was redesigned for 1972, Gibson were careful to make a less fragile bass. Some of the 1960s EB basses cracked easily when dropped, or knocked about a bit. The easily-broken mahogany neck had been replaced with a thicker three-piece maple one. It was given a thicker body, and a bigger headstock. It had a volute for neck...

For sale: an incredible 1972 Gibson EB3, featuring the original Cherry finish that's beautifully faded on the front over the years. This bass has been well-loved and shows its age in the best way?? worn in and full of character.
The sound is massive?? a thick, deep tone, with the ability to cut through with punchy mid-range honk from the bridge pickup. It's the perfect instrument for recreating legendary tones like Jack Bruce and Andy Fraser
While the original truss rod cover is missing,...

Gibson EB-0 bass from circa 1966. Serial number dates to Kalamazoo, MI, USA, 66-68, buts pots are dated 48th week of 1965, so '66 is very likely. All original, electrics untouched and no breaks or overspray to the original beautifully checked / glazed nitrocellulose finish. Has the original felt "mute" under the strings which is a bit stiff, but I rarely use it. Truss rod is free and working perfectly with lots of adjustment left, though it shouldn't need any unless a major ...
