Gibson bass guitar part descriptions - EB bass heel / neck joints
1960-1965
1960-1966, as used on all solid-body set-necked basses of this period, EB, EB0 and EB3
1966-1968
1966-1969, as used on all EB0, EB3 and Melody Maker basses of this period
1969
1969, as used on all set-necked basses of this period, EB0, EB1 and EB3. The large heel offered a little more strength than the previous design
This join style is not as common as the earlier 1969 heels; it was used on the three-piece neck EB3s made just before Gibson introduced the slotted headstock EB3.
1970-1971
1970-1971. The neck joint for split headstock EB basses was much the same as the design used in 1969 with a somewhat smaller heel
1972-79
1972-1979, as used on all set-necked basses of this period, EB0, EB3, EB4L and L9S Ripper. This joint is much the same as the '69 shape, but slightly squared off.
