The Gibson RD series bass guitars

The Gibson RD series comprised two models: the active RD Artist (initially known as the RD-77) and the passive RD Standard. Both, in true late seventies style, were maple-bodied, with a set long-scale maple neck. There were also three Gibson RD guitar models (Standard, Custom and Artist), and even (unrealized?) plans for a doubleneck instrument.
