This tuning key was used on several Gibson bass guitars made at the Kalamazoo plant between 1973 and 1974. It has similarities to both the Kluson 538 and Schaller BM, although it would appear to be an updated version of the Kluson 546, used on the Thunderbird in the 1960s. It shares the indented footprint of the 538, but with a larger post diameter (9/16") of the Schaller BM. Post hole diameter: 5/8". As fitted to the the Ripper and occasionally EB-0 and Grabber basses.
