Gibson SB-350 and SB-450 humbucker pickup

Gibson bass guitars | Part descriptions | Pickups | Gibson SB-350 and SB-450 humbucker pickup

The newly designed SB range of 1972 did away with the 1971 version's single-coil pickups, in favour of black plastic humbuckers. Each pickup is spring-mounted to a black plastic surround, so height adjustable. The SB humbuckers are potted (filled with resin), preventing examination of the windings. The images below show the pickup mounted in an SB bass, the pickup underside, and the components that complete the pickup assembly. Typical D.C. resistance for this pickup is around 6.2kΩ, front or back.
