Gibson RD Standard humbucker

Gibson bass guitars | Part descriptions | Pickups | Gibson RD Standard humbucker

RD Standard bass. Gibson part numbers 13063 (front pickup) and 13064 (back pickup). The RD Standard pickups are described variously as series III humbuckers (1978 Gibson catalog, May '78 price list) and series IV humbuckers (1978 RD brochure). Perhaps the series IV designation is actually correct, as the other guitars in the RD series are numbered consecutively as Series V (Artist bass), VI (Artist and Custom guitar) and VII (Standard guitar).

The neck and bridge pickups are not the same; bridge resistance is around 11kΩ, the neck just 6kΩ. Dimensions for both: 80.4mm x 21.2mm x 27.3mm.

Two pickups (part numbers: front 13063 and back 13064) mounted to an RD Standard scratchplate. These pickups and the scratchplate are unused old stock.

The pickup is attached to the scratchplate by three screws, each spring-mounted for subtle height adjustment.
