These sound clips are recorded directly into a mobilepre preamp, with no effects or adjustments, to demonstrate as natural a sound as possible. There are two distinct pickup modes on the Victory Standard and Custom basses, coils in series which gives the "most powerful, fatest sound", and coils in parallel which gives a "clean, piano bass tone". See the pickups and Victory Standard Controls sections of the 1981 Victory owners manual for more on this.

  • Ringing growl both pickups - coils in parallel - bass 10, treble 10, played with a pick
  • Fat growl both pickups - coils in series - bass 10, treble 10, played with a pick
  • Bridge bridge pickup - coils in series - bass 10, treble 10
  • Mellow Victory neck pickup - coils in series - bass 10, treble 10. This ultra mellow sound is achieved by playing fingerstyle over the last few frets of the neck
  • Mellow 2 neck pickup - coils in parallel - bass 10, treble 0

Victory Artist Recorded with GHS bass boomers (Flea signature round wound) strings. Master volume 10.

  • Passive tone
    all settings on full. The basic passive sound, two pickups, played with a pick.
  • Active (full)
    both pickups, bass +5, treble +5. Fingerstyle.
  • Active
    both pickups, bass +3, treble +2. Fingerstyle.
  • Super bass
    active, neck pickup, bass +5, treble +0. Fingerstyle.
  • Super treble
    active, bridge pickup, bass +0, treble +5, played with a pick.
  • Notch filtered
    both pickups, bass +5, treble 0. Fingerstyle.
  • Notch filtered
    both pickups, bass +4, treble +5. Fingerstyle.
