The Gibson Electric Bass (EB) was simply called the Electric Bass from it's inception in 1953 until 1957. However in 1958, the year of the introduction of the EB-2, it was renamed the EB-1. This was the final year of production though, and in 1959 the EB-1 was superceded by a new solid-body bass, the EB-0.
