1963 Gibson EB3 bass guitar
The EB3 was first manufactured in 1961, and the model changed little by little throughout its years of manufacture. The 1961 model had a black plastic cover with surround on the neck pickup, which was painted silver. In 1962 this was replaced by a nickel cover - as can be seen below. Between 1962 and 1965 very little changed (check out a pelham blue 1965 EB3).

A number of characteristic features are only present on basses of this period
- Slightly wider neck pickup cover (58mm)
- Silver painted surround on bridge pickup
- Different (wider) arrangment of control knobs
- Neck joint
- Metal finger rest - no bridge cover
